Gunbarrel is an unincorporated Boulder County community established in 1965 about seven miles northeast of downtown Boulder, with a 2020 census population of 9,554 at 5,282 feet. Housing spans 1965 through 2010 and ranges from condo and townhome buildings to custom single-family houses on lots of an acre or more. Boulder Country Club at 7350 Clubhouse Road and Twin Lakes Open Space, where the East and West Twin Lakes Trails each run 0.7 miles, anchor the middle of the area, and the 700-acre Boulder Reservoir at 5275 Reservoir Road is a short drive north. Lookout Road reaches the Diagonal Highway in about five minutes, and RTD route 205 runs into Boulder with added peak-hour service on route J.
