University Hill

University Hill climbs west from Broadway toward the Flatirons in houses built between 1900 and 1960, Victorians, Tudors and foursquares of 2,500 to 4,500 square feet on lots of 0.08 to 0.20 acres, a large share of them now operated as rentals. The Hill commercial strip along 13th Street faces the CU Boulder campus and holds the Fox Theatre, a 600-seat music room that opened in March 1992. Baseline Road runs west to Colorado Chautauqua in about two minutes, a 40-acre National Historic Landmark with an 1898 auditorium, an 1898 dining hall and 98 cottages built between 1899 and 1954. Pearl Street Mall is roughly a mile north on foot, and Broadway carries traffic to Canyon Boulevard and on to US-36.
