The outdoors run the show. Mueller State Park puts 5,112 acres of elk country and more than 55 miles of trail 20 minutes from town, with Eleven Mile State Park's reservoir, Pike National Forest, and Rampart Reservoir close behind. In town, the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center packs 20,000 square feet of paleontology, Ute Pass Brewing pours with a Pikes Peak view, and the Woodland Park Farmers Market is a summer Saturday institution.
Dining leans into the setting. The Historic Ute Inn, Teller County's oldest bar and grill, has served wild-game burgers and elk since 1942, with the Red Diamond Gastro Pub and Cafe Leo rounding out the list, and the Ute Trail Stampede Rodeo has owned July 4th since 1937. City Market and Safeway handle the groceries, with the Springs 30 minutes east for anything bigger.
