Welton Street / Historic Cultural District

The Rossonian Hotel at 2650 Welton (NRHP-listed 1995) is Denver's most prominent jazz heritage landmark, dating to 1912 and reopening in 2028 after a long restoration. The Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library at 2401 Welton houses the state's premier archive of African American history, and the Black American West Museum sits a few blocks west at 3091 California Street. Street-level businesses include Spangalang Brewery, Welton Street Cafe, and Fifth Coffee House, anchoring a compact corridor served by the First Friday Jazz Hop and the annual Hi Points Festival. Residential stock includes new-build mixed-use condos above retail, small-scale townhome infill, and the Hattie McDaniel affordable condo project at 639 29th Street (under construction).
