Ridgewood Hills occupies the far south end of Fort Collins, south of Trilby Road and about three quarters of a mile west of College Avenue, with ranch, two-story, and split-level homes built between 1996 and 2005 on lots of 0.12 to 0.20 acres, most with attached two- or three-car garages. Avondale Road is the spine of the subdivision, and Homestead Park at 7045 Avondale Road supplies a ball field, turf field, multi-use courts, playground, and restrooms beside Coyote Ridge Elementary, a Thompson School District campus opened in 2008. Colina Mariposa Natural Area begins at the western edge with about a mile of soft-surface trail and a link to the Long View Trail toward Loveland, and Cathy Fromme Prairie is two miles northwest. Trilby Road is a one-minute drive, College Avenue and Shields Street are each about two minutes, and Harmony Road is roughly five.
