Bow Mar is its own statutory town, incorporated in August 1958 and split across Arapahoe and Jefferson counties, so it is a neighbor of Littleton rather than a part of it. About 302 homes sit on acre lots along wide curving streets, most of them first built in the late 1940s and early 1950s and held to one story, with prairie style lines drawn from Frank Lloyd Wright. The town takes its name from the Bowles and Marston lakes on either side, and roughly 97 acres of its 0.8 square miles is water, centered on private Bowles Lake with its beach, marina and sailing program. West Bowles Avenue and South Platte Canyon Road frame the town, with C-470 about five minutes south.
