The Aurora Highlands is a 4,000-acre master plan east of E-470, entered at the Aurora Highlands Parkway interchange 2 miles north of I-70, where Richmond American, Taylor Morrison, Tri Pointe, Century, Bridgewater, Risewell and David Weekley have built single-family homes and townhomes on 0.08 to 0.20-acre lots since 2020. The land plan calls for more than 21 miles of trails, 12 neighborhood parks and 20 pocket parks. Hogan Park at Highlands Creek, nearly 100 acres with climbing walls, a zip line, embankment slides and disc golf, is open, as is Winged Melody Park with its covered stage and carousel; a Beach Club with indoor and outdoor pools and an ice and recreation center are still in the works. Aurora Highlands P-8 operates inside the community, Vista PEAK Preparatory covers grades 9 to 12 at 24500 East 6th Avenue, and the DIA terminal is roughly 6 miles north.
