Murphy Creek wraps around the city-owned Murphy Creek Golf Course, a prairie-links layout at 1700 S Old Tom Morris Road that made Golf Digest's best new courses list in 2002 and hosted the 2008 U.S. Amateur Public Links. The metro district counts more than 1,400 homes built since 2002 by Meritage, KB Home, Lennar and Montano on 0.10 to 0.25 acre lots, many with fairway views, and the course clubhouse carries a homestead farming theme in its architecture and displayed equipment.
