Wheatlands lies on the rise between Southlands and Aurora Reservoir, east of E-470 off E Arapahoe Road, where single-family homes built from 2000 to 2010 run 4 to 5 bedrooms and just under 3,000 square feet on 0.10 to 0.25 acre lots, many with Front Range views to the west. The metro district maintains an outdoor pool and clubhouse, more than 40 acres of open space, and Wheatlands Community Park on S Wheatlands Parkway with its playground, basketball court and picnic area, and the YMCA recreation center at Wheatlands on S Kewaunee Way rounds out the district facilities. A 280 acre regional park is planned on adjoining land. Walking paths reach both the reservoir loop and the Southlands shops, Cherokee Trail High School is under a mile south on Arapahoe Road, and the Smoky Hill Road ramps to E-470 are about 3 minutes west.
