Heather Ridge is a ring of 10 named neighborhoods (Burgundy, Chimney Hill, Cobblestone, Cobblestone Crossing, Country Club Ridge, Double Tree, Fairway 16, Heather Ridge South, Sausalito and Strawberry) around an 18-hole course that dates to 1972 and became public after the Heather Ridge Metropolitan District bought it in 2009 to keep the fairways as open space. Housing runs from 1970s one-bedroom condos to 1990s four-bedroom single-family homes, and most sub-associations run their own clubhouse and pool. The district describes the site as one block west of I-225 at the Iliff Ave exit, and the R Line's Iliff station is about a third of a mile from the course's east edge. Utah Park and the Jewell Wetlands are under a mile north, with Prairie Middle and Overland High on Jewell Ave in between.
