Split-levels, tri-levels and brick ranches from the 1960s and 1970s sit on lots of a tenth to a fifth of an acre, following the slope of the old irrigation reservoirs the streets were laid around. Kendrick Lake Park at 9351 W. Jewell Avenue wraps a 31-acre reservoir with a measured mile of mostly paved trail, a playground, a rentable shelter and one of the metro area's best known xeric demonstration gardens. Jewell Park, a short distance east at 1850 S. Garrison Street, follows North Sanderson Gulch with more trail, a small fishing lake and picnic tables. Kendrick Lakes Elementary sits on S. Hoyt Street, and W. Jewell Avenue runs east to S. Wadsworth Boulevard in about five minutes.
