Solterra spreads across a west Lakewood mesa where construction began in 2007 and has reached nearly 600 homes, built by Shea Homes, Infinity Home Collection, and Brookfield Residential to Tuscan, Andalusian, and Provencal patterns on lots of roughly a tenth to three tenths of an acre. The Retreat clubhouse collects an infinity pool, a fitness center, tennis courts, two playgrounds, and an event amphitheater. Two City of Lakewood holdings, the 2,400 acre William F. Hayden Park and the 2,624 acre Bear Creek Lake Park, account for the 5,000 acres of open space ringing the community. Coyote Gulch Park's paved loop runs north into Solterra.
