Applewood Valley sits outside the City of Lakewood, in the unincorporated Applewood community of Jefferson County, where the mail carries a Golden 80401 address. The houses date from roughly 1940 to 1969, ranch and split level plans plus later custom builds on lots of a fifth to a half acre, and the trees planted with them now shade most of the streets. Applewood Park and Tanglewood Sports Park are both within half a mile, and the Applewood Golf Course fronts West 32nd Avenue about a mile north. Youngfield Street runs a mile east and feeds I-70 and US-6, leaving downtown Denver roughly ten miles out.
