Applewood Knolls is inside Lakewood city limits at the far northwest corner, west of Simms Street between West 26th and West 32nd Avenues, on a Lakewood 80215 address. The subdivision went up between 1959 and 1974 in ranch, bi level, tri level, and two story plans running 1,700 to 4,000 finished square feet, set on fifth to half acre lots with two car garages. Maple Grove Reservoir lies about half a mile southwest, Chester-Portsmouth Park is under half a mile west, and Stober Elementary sits on Union Street just south. West 32nd Avenue and Simms Street feed I-70 and US-6, and downtown Golden is about ten minutes west.
