Heatherwood is a Gunbarrel subdivision of single-family houses built between about 1975 and 1995 on lots of 0.12 to 0.25 acres, roughly six and a half miles northeast of Pearl Street Mall. Heatherwood Elementary sits inside the street grid, and beside it the city keeps Heatherwood Park, 5.55 acres left undeveloped on Heatherwood Drive east of 75th Street. Twin Lakes Open Space lies about a mile and a half west. Lookout Road connects to the Diagonal Highway, SH-119, in roughly five minutes, and US-36 is about ten minutes out, which puts the neighborhood closer to Longmont and Niwot errands than to downtown Boulder.
