Pradera spreads across about 1,500 acres of rolling grassland on the west side of Parker Road (Hwy 83), roughly 6 miles south of Mainstreet and about the same distance from Castle Rock. Building began in 2003, with Celebrity Homes and D.R. Horton plans alongside custom houses on lots from 0.44 to 1.55 acres, and construction continues on remaining sites. The Club at Pradera, a private 18-hole Jim Engh design at 5225 Raintree Drive, occupies the western side of the plan and shares a dual-membership arrangement with the Pinery Country Club across the highway. More than 600 acres are parks and open space tied together by an internal trail system, and Ponderosa High School sits about 2 miles east. Pradera Parkway meets Parker Road for the drive north, Crowfoot Valley Road runs southwest to Castle Rock, and I-25 is about 20 minutes west by way of Hess Road.
