Lyn Knoll, spelled with one N in Aurora's records, is a 368-acre neighborhood between 6th Avenue and about 2nd Avenue, from Peoria Street east to I-225. Its four Lyn Knoll plat filings date from 1961 to 1964, so the single-family homes are early-1960s construction, with later filings through the 1980s adding condos along the edges. Del Mar Park holds the corner of 6th and Peoria, the High Line Canal and its regional trail run along the neighborhood's southern edge, and Aurora Hills Golf Course lies just south across Alameda Avenue. Sixth Avenue Elementary and South Middle School sit inside the boundary, the former Lyn Knoll Elementary on East 2nd Avenue now houses Del Mar Academy, and Aurora Central High School is about a mile north, all Aurora Public Schools. The R Line's 2nd Avenue and Abilene Station is at the southeast corner and I-225 is reached at 6th Avenue in about 3 minutes.
