Hackberry Hill Estates is a 130-home subdivision between W 74th Avenue and Vance Street, built in one push from 1969 to 1973 in the full early-1970s style set of bi-level, tri-level, multi-level, two-story and ranch, at 1,100 to 2,300 square feet above grade with two-car attached garages on lots from 7,500 square feet to a third of an acre. The hill itself, a rise between the Ralston Creek and Little Dry Creek drainages, was named for a lone hackberry tree that stood until 1937, when Wadsworth Boulevard was pushed over the summit; a 1966 roadside park west of the road keeps a replacement tree and a marker. Hackberry Hill Park at 7585 Teller Street is open turf at the neighborhood's edge, and the city's Lake Arbor Center and outdoor pool are about a mile north on W 83rd Way. Wadsworth is a 5-minute drive and I-76 about 10 minutes.
